Pineapple Orange Dreamsicle Slushies

Eat Healthy

Slushies scream summertime, but most commercially made treats are sky-high in sugar, not to mention artificial colors and flavors.

Don’t give these Pineapple Orange Dreamsicle Slushies the cold shoulder, though – they’re made with 100 percent real fruit and unsweetened almond milk, making them a satisfying solution to summer’s unrelenting heat.

“These slushies are a good source of vitamin C, thanks to the use of fresh pineapple and orange juice,” says Rebecca Izawa, registered dietitian at Kapiolani Medical Center for Women & Children.

Frozen bananas help thicken up the mixture and lend natural sweetness, plus dietary fiber, potassium and vitamin B6.

Almond milk provides calcium, vitamin E and iron; it also gives these slushies a creamy, almost milkshake-like consistency, making them a guilt-less snack choice both kids and adults will gulp down.
