Pili KongWhen Joycelyn was pregnant with her first child, everything was on track for a normal delivery. But then, at just 27 weeks, Joycelyn went into labor.

She delivered a baby boy named Pili, whose name mean "to come together."

Because he was born so early, Pili spent the first month of his life in the Kapiolani Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).

"I was there every day," remembers Joycelyn.

Luckily, Pili had no major complications due to his early arrival. Now 8 years old, Pili is right on target developmentally and loves reading.
