Hawaii Pacific Health Recognized by Hawaii State Legislature for Excellence in Health Information Technology

As part of National Health IT Week, the Hawaii-Alaska Chapter of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), hosted a special Hawaii Health IT Day at the Hawaii State Capitol, which included a ceremony honoring Hawaii Pacific Health as the most recent recipient of the HIMSS Enterprise Davies Award, a national award that recognizes outstanding achievement in health information technology.

Pali Momi, Straub and Wilcox Medical Centers were among the 823 hospitals to receive an “A” for their commitment to reducing errors, infections and accidents that can harm patients in the newest Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades.

Healthgrades Recognizes Straub Medical Center for Achievements in Patient Safety and Patient Experience

Straub Medical Center has been recognized for two distinctions in quality excellence from Healthgrades: the Healthgrades 2017 Patient Safety Excellence Award™ and the Healthgrades 2017 Outstanding Patient Experience Award™. Straub is one of only 26 hospitals in the nation to receive both the Patient Safety Excellence Award and the Outstanding Patient Experience Award for three consecutive years (2015-2017).

Straub Medical Center Earns Blue Distinction Center+ Designation for Cardiac and Bone & Joint Care

Straub Medical Center has been designated by HMSA as a Blue Distinction® Center+ for Cardiac Care and Knee and Hip Replacement Surgeries, both of which are part of the Blue Distinction Specialty Care program. Blue Distinction Centers are nationally designated health care facilities shown to deliver improved patient safety and better health outcomes, based on objective measures developed with input from the medical community.

Straub Joins Forces with More Than 500 Organizations to Increase Colorectal Cancer Screening Rates Nationwide

Straub Medical Center recently made the pledge to help increase colorectal cancer screening rates by supporting the “80% by 2018” initiative led by the American Cancer Society, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the National Colorectal Cancer Roundtable (an organization co-founded by ACS and CDC). More than 500 organizations have committed to substantially reducing colorectal cancer as a major public health problem, and are working toward the shared goal of 80 percent of adults ages 50 and older being regularly screened for colorectal cancer by 2018.

Hawaii Pacific Health Receives National Award for Health Information Technology

Hawaii Pacific Health was recently named a recipient of the HIMSS Enterprise Davies Award, which recognizes outstanding achievement in health information technology. Established in 1994, the Davies Awards program promotes electronic health record-enabled improvement in patient outcomes through sharing of case studies and lessons learned across a wide range of efforts.

Straub, Pali Momi and Wilcox Medical Centers Receive "A" in Hospital Safety Grade

Pali Momi, Straub and Wilcox Medical Centers have each earned an “A” grade in the new Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades. Straub has been awarded straight “A’s” since 2013 and is one of only 113 hospitals out of over 2,600 across the country to attain this honor.

Hawaii Pacific Health Employees Donate Nearly $1 Million to Help Create a Healthier Hawaii

Hawaii Pacific Health employees generously donated their own money to help patients, raising a record $944,900 for the 2016 Hawaii Pacific Health Employee Giving Campaign. The money was raised over a one-month period through personal gifts and pledges by 3,885 staff members, and was the most successful Employee Giving Campaign to-date for Hawaii Pacific Health.

Straub Medical Center Only Hospital in Hawaii to Receive 5-Star Rating

Straub Medical Center, a member of the Hawaii Pacific Health hospital network, has been recognized as the only hospital in Hawaii and one of only 102 acute care hospitals nationwide to receive a five-star rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Only two percent of the 4,200 acute care hospitals nationwide received this rating.

Pittsburgh Steelers' offensive lineman Kendall Simmons will share his personal journey with type 2 diabetes at a special public event on Saturday, July 30, to celebrate the culmination of the 2016 Diabetes Care for Life Program, an eight-week diabetes self-management program facilitated by Straub Medical Center.

Straub Clinic & Hospital Earns 'A' Grade for Patient Safety

Straub Clinic & Hospital was recently recognized as the only hospital in the state of Hawaii to have achieved straight A’s since 2013 in the Hospital Safety Scores, an initiative of The Leapfrog Group that assigns letter grades to more than 2,500 U.S. hospitals, assessing medical errors, accidents, injuries and infections.
