These six leaders exemplify the range of opportunities that a career in nursing can lead to, especially for kamaaina. In fact, each holds a close, personal connection to Hawaii, either being born here or raised in the islands.
"Nursing is both a calling and a highly skilled profession, requiring clinical excellence as well as compassion," said Amy Thomas, RN, system chief nurse executive of HPH. "Hawaii Pacific Health supports our nurses and their career aspirations, whether they are just entering the field, learning new specialties, or advancing within the organization to leadership roles. Our nursing leaders who have grown from within are just one great example of HPH's commitment to our nurses.”
Read through the slideshow above to learn what has kept these six leaders engaged and inspired throughout their health care careers.
Across our medical centers, clinics, and care settings, all of our nurses play an important part in how we deliver coordinated, patient-centered care. Whether beginning their career at the bedside or mentoring the next generation, their attentiveness, knowledge, and steady presence help our care teams work effectively while keeping patients' well-being at the center of everything we do.
