OFFERING INFORMATION:
This offering is for those providing care for medical-surgical telemetry patients who are lacking medical knowledge, experience and/or confidence with their patients.
This offering is open to any learner at Hawai'i Pacific Health (HPH). It does not require any pre-work.
OBJECTIVES:
1. Identify the mechanical components of the heart and relate how the electrical conductivity impacts the mechanical action of the heart.
2. Select appropriate leads with which to monitor different planes of the heart based on patient’s condition.
3. Demonstrate correct measurements and interpretation of rhythm strips using static and dynamic examples.
4. Distinguish between common dysrhythmias encountered in the medical-surgical telemetry setting.
5. Select an appropriate course of action on patient characteristics and identified cardiac dysrhythmias.
CONTINUING EDUCATION:
In support of improving patient care, Hawai‘i Pacific Health is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
Hawai‘i Pacific Health designates this live activity for 3.5 contact hours for nurses. Nurses should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
