"Promoting Engagement, Aloha and Compassion in the Everyday Care of People Facing Serious Illness"
This Regularly Scheduled Series (RSS) will review the role of Social Work in Palliative Care.
Social Workers provide unique contributions in the interdisciplinary care of people facing serious illness.
This series will be held live, virtually, via Zoom.
All sessions will take place on the third Thursday of every other month, beginning in June 2025 and ending in December 2025.
SERIES' OVERALL OBJECTIVES:
1. Identify the social worker's role in the implementation of the palliative care benefit in Hawai‘i.
2. Identify the social worker’s role in the assessment of addressing physical, psychological, social and spiritual suffering of patients and families.
3. Assess complex situations, implement appropriate interventions and advocate for patient needs.
CONTINUING EDUCATION:
In support of improving patient care, Hawai‘i Pacific Health is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
As a Jointly Accredited Organization, Hawai‘i Pacific Health is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved under this program. State and provincial regulatory boards have the final authority to determine whether an individual course may be accepted for continuing education credit. Hawai‘i Pacific Health maintains responsibility for this Regularly Scheduled Series (RSS). Social workers completing this series receive 1.0 continuing education credits per session.
