OFFERING INFORMATION:
This course is aimed at improving the participant's skill in recognizing critical illness and initiating care in pediatric patients in the absence of an intensivist. It provides a combination of didactic lectures and hands-on skills stations with an emphasis on the pediatric population.


OBJECTIVES:
1. Prioritize assessment needs for the critically ill or injured infant and child.
2. Identify and respond to significant changes in the unstable pediatric patient.
3. Initiate management of acute life-threatening conditions.
4. Determine the need for expert consultation and/or patient transfer and prepare for optimal transfer.


CONTINUING EDUCATION:
In support of improving patient care, Hawai‘i Pacific Health is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

Hawai‘i Pacific Health designates this live activity for a maximum of 15.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits ™ for physicians. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
