CONFERENCE DESCRIPTION:
Over the past ten years, significant progress has been made in the treatment of even the most aggressive cancers. With improved treatment comes the need to discuss options for supportive care with patients, including early referral for palliative care. Many options for pharmaceutical management of symptoms now exist. But for patients who do not achieve successful outcomes how do health care providers respond to requests for medical aid in dying? Additionally, through very complex treatments, providers must continue to care for themselves. This conference will present information about the many aspects of the treatment of advanced cancer.

TARGET AUDIENCE:
This conference is intended for Oncology nurses, pharmacists and other health care professionals.

OBJECTIVES:
1. Facilitate the discussion of palliative care for patients with the diagnosis of advanced care.
2. Implement new treatments of aggressive malignancies such as lung cancer, brain cancer and melanomas.
3. Demonstrate collaborative care for a patient’s plan to utilize Medical Aid in Dying with team members in various roles.
