Excited about the big day? Not sure what to do? This 3 week series is designed for expectant parents in their last 3 months of pregnancy. This course covers female anatomy, warning signs, pre-labor signs, signs of labor, and phases of labor, timing contractions, comfort measures and breathing techniques for labor. The class will also discuss relaxation and breathing patterns, birthing options, pain management, cesarean deliveries as well as your partner's role, postpartum care, and newborn appearance and procedures.
Items To Bring to Class:
- 2 standard "bedroom" pillows.
- 2 pencils or pens.
- Something to put on the floor like a beach towel, exercise mat or small blanket.
- Please bring a focal point: a small, portable item such as a stuffed animal, postcard, etc. This item will help you to focus your attention during breathing exercises.
- Wear comfortable pants/shorts and flat shoes/slippers for floor exercises.
- Water and snack/meal for break time.
Each class is taught by an experienced Childbirth Educator who tailors each class to make everyone’s experience a memorable one. These classes are designed to fulfill your mindful intellect as well as have an instructor nearby, to guide you through your practical skills.
In Person Classes
Our classes are held at either Kapiolani Medical Center for Women & Children or Pali Momi Medical Center. Please note the location on the class registration below.
Classes are designed for our adult patients, and unfortunately we are not able to accommodate children in classes at this time. Thank you for your understanding by leaving your children in the care of family or friends while you attend your class.
Curbside book pick-up will take place at a scheduled date prior to the class located at the Bingham Street patient drop off area (one book per couple per class series). Instructions for literature pick up and login will be provided to you through our Contact Center.
Our Virtual Prepared Childbirth class will be held through a video conference call. While mobile devices are capable, please keep in mind that attending our class on a desktop computer or laptop will produce the best result.
