Providing High-Quality Care for Our Patients is Our Top Priority

Kapiolani Medical Center for Women & Children received a strike notice from the Hawaii Teamsters & Allied Workers, Local 996 (Teamsters), which represents approximately 300 staff members at Kapiolani Medical Center.

According to the notice, the strike will begin at 7 a.m. Friday, Oct. 17, 2025. It is expected to be 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with no specified end date.

Kapiolani Medical Center will remain open and continue providing patient care and services during the strike.

We have secured a temporary workforce that will be available during the strike, and we will continue to deliver compassionate, high-quality care to our patients and community.

During the strike, please be aware of the following:

  • Patients and visitors can enter the medical center through the Main Hospital and Diamond Head Tower.

Classes

To help manage activity on our campus and minimize stress for our patients, all classes scheduled through Oct. 25 had been moved to a virtual format. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this time.

Although the Teamsters’ strike continues, we are pleased to share that all classes are now returning to an in-person format.

However, maternity tours will remain virtual until further notice.

If you are registered for an upcoming class and would prefer to reschedule your class to a later date after the strike, we are happy to assist you. Please call the Hawaii Pacific Health Contact Center at 808-527-2588 to reschedule.
