Providing High-Quality Care for Our Patients is Our Top Priority

Kapiolani Medical Center for Women & Children received a strike notice from the Hawaii Teamsters & Allied Workers, Local 996 (Teamsters), which represents approximately 300 staff members at Kapiolani Medical Center.

According to the notice, the strike will begin at 7 a.m. Friday, Oct. 17, 2025. It is expected to be 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with no specified end date.

 

Kapiolani Medical Center will remain open and continue providing patient care and services during the strike.

We have secured a temporary workforce that will be available during the strike, and we will continue to deliver compassionate, high-quality care to our patients and community.

Medical Center Access

During the strike, please be aware of the following:

  • Patients and visitors can enter the medical center through the Main Hospital and Diamond Head Tower.
  • Security personnel will be available to assist patients and visitors and to ensure entrances remain unobstructed.
  • There may be traffic delays around the medical center and parking garage entrance/exit. We encourage everyone to plan ahead and allow extra time for their commute to and from the medical center.
