We want you to feel supported and informed during your time at Kapiʻolani. We understand that having a loved one in the hospital can be difficult, and we’re here to help make your stay as comfortable and smooth as possible.

Visiting Hours
Visiting Hours and Guidelines
General visiting hours are 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., daily.
Patients may have up to two adult visitors at a time. Siblings are also welcome to visit, with one sibling allowed at a time. Siblings under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult at all times. All visitors must be in good health.

Public Parking
The entrance to the Kapiʻolani parking garage is located off Bingham Street. The garage is open 24 hours, 7 days a week.
- $5 for the first two hours
- $7 for 2-4 hours
- $11 for 4-8 hours
- $25 for 8-24 hours
- $25 for lost tickets
Valet Parking
Valet parking is available at the patient drop-off driveway off Bingham Street, where a valet attendant will assist you.
Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-4 p.m.

Dining
Kobayashi & Kosasa Family Dining Room
The Kobayashi & Kosasa Family Dining Room is located on the second floor of the Diamond Head Tower and is open daily from 6 a.m. to 3:30 a.m.
It provides a convenient dining option for patients, visitors, and staff by offering breakfast, lunch, and dinner selections.
Available menu items include salads, sandwiches, soups, snacks, beverages, and a variety of self-service hot entrees, priced by weight for flexible portion selection. The Dining Room also features pizza and grill items, offering a range of fresh meal choices throughout the day.

Starbucks
Starbucks is located in the Dining Room and is open daily from 5:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.

Televisions
The TV in each patient room is operated using the pillow speaker, which provides access to entertainment and hospital information. Movies are available at no cost.
The TV also serves as an educational resource, offering information about the hospital, available services, and a variety of health topics.
Telephones
A telephone is available in each patient room and can be used to make internal calls to other rooms or departments, as well as local calls.
Wi-Fi
Wi-Fi is available for Kapiʻolani patients and visitors.
Child Life & Education Support
Child Life & Education Support
Support services are available to help pediatric patients cope with hospitalization and stay connected to learning during their stay.
Playroom & Child Life Services
Games, arts and crafts, electronics, an outdoor patio, and more are available in the Playroom, located on the 2nd floor of the Main Hospital Building near the elevators. The Playroom is open to pediatric patients daily from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m.
Patients may also borrow toys and activities for bedside use to support play and provide distraction throughout their stay.
The Playroom is staffed by Child Life specialists who support positive coping and help reduce the stress of hospitalization through play, education, and emotional support.
Education & School Support
Patients hospitalized for two or more weeks may be eligible for education and school support services to help them stay connected to learning.
An educational liaison can assist with communication between families and the child’s school and help coordinate a smooth transition back to school.
Tutoring and classroom experiences, including Brain Station, provide cognitive stimulation and support skills such as memory, language, and problem-solving.

Hospital Facility Dog
Hospital Facility Dog Program
Ruby, Kapiʻolani’s Chief Canine Officer, is a full-time hospital facility dog who provides comfort and companionship to patients, families, and staff. A trained Labrador retriever, she works alongside our care teams to help reduce stress, ease anxiety, and support the healing process – often visiting patients at the bedside.
Hospital facility dogs like Ruby are professionally trained to work in healthcare settings and are integrated into patient care programs. Ruby was trained and donated by Assistance Dogs of Hawaiʻi.
Spiritual Care
Chapels
Hale Pule Chapel is located on the 2nd floor of the Main Hospital Building. The Diamond Head Tower Chapel is located on the 2nd floor of the Diamond Head Tower. Both chapels are open 24 hours a day and offer a peaceful setting for prayer, reflection, or meditation.
Chaplaincy
Hospital chaplains are available to support the spiritual and emotional needs of patients, families, and visitors.

Patients and families are also welcome to have their own spiritual care provider visit while at the medical center.
Holistic Services
Holistic Services
Healing Touch, Reiki, and aromatherapy services are available to support relaxation using a holistic approach. These services may help reduce symptoms such as pain, nausea, fatigue, anxiety, and sleeplessness.
Services are provided by trained volunteers specializing in mind-body healing practices, including:
- Healing Touch: a nurturing energy therapy that promotes physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual balance.
- Reiki: a Japanese technique focused on promoting relaxation and overall well-being through “life force energy.”
- Aromatherapy: the use of essential oils to enhance relaxation and help relieve symptoms such as nausea, fatigue, and anxiety.
Pharmacy
Outpatient Pharmacy
The Kapiʻolani Medical Center Outpatient Pharmacy is located on the first floor of the Main Hospital Building and offers prescription and over-the-counter medications for patients and the public.
Gift Shop
Gift Shop
Purchase gifts, flowers, novelties, greeting cards, candies, and toiletries at our Gift Shop, located on the 2nd floor of the Diamond Head Tower.

On-site services are available to help patients and visitors find support, get information, and navigate their stay.
Information Desk
Volunteers at the Information Desk are available to assist with questions and directions.
The desk is located near the entrance to the Dining Room from the sky bridge connecting to the third floor of the parking garage.
Patient Relations
Patient Relations is available to help with questions, concerns, or feedback about your care experience. Please ask a member of your care team for assistance in connecting with Patient Relations.
Security
Security services are available 24/7. Security desks are located at the entrances to the Main Hospital Building and the Diamond Head Tower.
Convenience Services
ATM
ATM machines are available near the first-floor entrances of the Main Hospital Building and Diamond Head Tower.
Laundry Room
Laundry rooms are available for families staying for an extended period of time.
Newspapers
The Honolulu Star-Advertiser is available for purchase in the Dining Room, which is located on the 2nd floor of the Diamond Head Tower.
