Fetal Diagnostic Center

Maternal-fetal medicine, also called MFM or perinatology, is specialized care for pregnant women and their babies before birth. At the Fetal Diagnostic Center, we care for women who may need extra support during pregnancy.

Our team helps manage high-risk pregnancies, coordinate care, and provide testing to support the health of both you and your baby. Our MFM specialists have advanced training in high-risk pregnancy care. We offer screening, diagnostic testing, and ongoing care for women with complicated pregnancies, as well as testing for expectant mothers with routine pregnancies.

If you have a long-term health condition, we work closely with your doctors and other specialists to help keep you and your baby as healthy as possible.

We also care for women who develop unexpected pregnancy complications or whose babies may have birth defects or other medical concerns. Throughout your pregnancy, our goal is to provide clear answers, compassionate care, and support you can trust.

Our team of MFM providers partner with sonographers, genetic counselors, clinical nurses, and certified diabetic educators to prepare you and your family for baby's arrival, with the goal of keeping both you and your baby as safe and healthy as possible.

• A Sweeter Choice program – diabetes and nutritional counseling with management of blood sugars throughout the pregnancy

• First trimester ultrasound
• Growth ultrasound
• Third trimester follow-up ultrasound
• Detailed obstetrical ultrasound
• Cervical length assessment

Obstetrical ultrasound services are available at Kapiʻolani Medical Center on Oʻahu and Wilcox Medical Center on Kauaʻi. Any abnormalities detected at Wilcox are referred to Kapiʻolani for perinatal and neonatal intensive care.
