Service Overview

Gastroenterology involves medical care for your digestive system and related organs, including your:

  • Esophagus
  • Stomach
  • Small and large intestines
  • Gallbladder
  • Liver
  • Pancreas
  • Rectum

For help caring for these organs, you can turn to a gastroenterologist. This specialist helps prevent, diagnose, and treat conditions that affect your digestive tract and liver, supporting you as you understand and manage your digestive health.

That support includes helping you make sense of your symptoms. Finding answers can take time, because different digestive conditions can cause similar symptoms. You don’t have to navigate that uncertainty alone. Our experts draw on their medical knowledge, advanced imaging, and technology to help find the cause and give you a clearer understanding of your health.

Treatment Options Available

Our gastroenterologists draw on their extensive experience treating conditions of the pancreas, liver, gallbladder, esophagus, stomach, small intestine, and colon to help guide your care.

Your doctor will also work closely with specialists from other areas of medicine to develop a treatment plan that best meets your individual needs.

Working together, they use procedures to diagnose and treat GI issues, including:

Colonoscopy and Colorectal Cancer Screening

Colon cancer, also called colorectal cancer, can develop in polyps in the colon’s inner lining. Because colon cancer may not cause symptoms early on, it's important to start colon cancer screening beginning at age 45 for those at average risk.
