05/07/2025

Five nurses in different scrubs on MidWeek cover with headline The Pulse of Health Care.

In honor of National Nurses Week, MidWeek is featuring five Hawaii Pacific Health nurses in its May 7 cover story for Hawaii Island, Kauai and Oahu.

Nurses work every day to ensure patients receive the best health care possible. From specialized clinics to emergency departments, from the bedside to administration, nurses are key members of teams that help patients of all ages through some of the most difficult times of their lives.

The HPH nurses profiled in Midweek's cover story represent the thousands of nurses who make up these dedicated teams that provide compassionate, quality care at our medical centers and clinics.

Featured in the story are (as pictured on the cover from left to right):

  • Annie Courville, RN, Infection Prevention, Kapiolani Medical Center for Women & Children
  • Darwin Bumanglag, RN, Emergency Department, Pali Momi Medical Center
  • Romelyn Solomon, RN, Straub Benioff Medical Center Electrophysiology Clinic
  • Anthony Paguyo, RN, Emergency Department, Straub Benioff Medical Center
  • Helene Larsen, RN-BC, Patient Safety and Quality, Wilcox Medical Center

These five nurses are examples that by working together, we can make a positive difference in the lives of our patients, their families and our communities. Caregivers like Annie, Darwin, Romelyn, Anthony and Helene – alongside our inspiring team of more than 2,300 other licensed registered nurses across our medical centers and clinics – remind us that, together, we can achieve our mission of creating a healthier Hawaii.

The MidWeek issues hit mailboxes this week on Oahu, Kauai and Hawaii Island. You can also read the article online at MidWeek.com.
