Biography and Interests

Biography

Dr. Kimberly Kho is a gynecologist who provides care for common, but often complex, noncancerous health issues in women, such as fibroids, endometriosis, adenomyosis, ovarian masses and pelvic pain. These conditions are often underdiagnosed and undertreated, leaving many women to suffer from long-term secondary issues that can include chronic pain, decreased fertility and organ damage.

Dr. Kho strongly believes in a multidisciplinary, evidence-based approach to care that supports her patients and their goals. She was among the first wave of formally fellowship-trained minimally invasive surgeons and is highly experienced with complex surgeries using advanced techniques and technologies, including robotics.

Before moving to Hawaii, Dr. Kho led the Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery (MIGS) program at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center for 16 years. She also founded and directed the university’s post-graduate fellowship training program and was a professor who directed successful multidisciplinary fibroid and endometriosis programs, performing clinical research in these areas.

She has authored more than 100 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters in seminal textbooks, including Williams Gynecology. Her current research interests focus on uterine-preserving procedures, surgical training and education. She also is excited to explore innovative care models to address social determinants of health and improve access to care.

She has been a National Institutes of Health-supported clinical scholar and has served in various national and international leadership roles for OB-GYN professional societies. Her passion for teaching and training the next generation has earned her several awards.

Dr. Kho moved to Honolulu to help create an advanced gynecologic program to serve the women of Hawaii and the Pacific region. She is delighted to have the opportunity to raise her family here. When she’s not cheering on her two boys at soccer, she enjoys exploring the natural beauty of her island home, hiking, traveling and reading.
