National Doctors' Day is celebrated every March 30 to acknowledge physicians for their unwavering commitment, expertise and compassion to the patients and communities they serve.
This year, in recognition of all of our dedicated doctors, five Hawaiʻi Pacific Health physicians appear in a MidWeek cover story.
Pictured in their white coats above, clockwise from top left, are:
- Dr. Mark Baker, Hawaiʻi Health Partners emergency medicine physician based at Pali Momi Medical Center.
- Dr. Nicole Leong, Hawaiʻi Pacific Health Medical Group internal medicine physician based at Straub Benioff Medical Center – Pearlridge Clinic.
- Dr. Samuel Evans, Hawaiʻi Pacific Health Medical Group Section Chief of Pulmonology and Straub Benioff Medical Center Chief of Staff.
- Dr. Carli Bullis, Hawaiʻi Pacific Health Medical Group pediatric neurosurgeon based at Kapiʻolani Medical Center for Women & Children.
- Dr. Clyner Antalan, Hawaiʻi Pacific Health Medical Group Kauaʻi Section Chief of OB-GYN and an OB-GYN at Kauaʻi Medical Clinic.
These individuals represent the dedication, skill and heart that define the nearly 2,000 affiliated physicians who help serve the needs of patients at our medical centers and facilities. Working side-by-side with other health care professionals – nurses, staff and administration – our teams of providers play a central role in our shared goal to create healthier communities.
The article also recognizes the ways HPH is investing in Hawaiʻi’s future health care workforce.
"Hawaiʻi Pacific Health is helping to build the pipeline of future physicians and health care professionals through programs like our Summer Student Research Program and partnering with the John A. Burns School of Medicine," says Hawaiʻi Pacific Health Medical Group CEO Dr. Leslie Chun in the article.
"The state's Healthcare Education Loan Repayment Program, championed by Gov. Josh Green, is also essential for keeping our best and brightest in Hawaiʻi. Practicing medicine is an incredibly rewarding field, and HPH is dedicated to supporting our physicians and growing the next generation of doctors."
The MidWeek issue is available on Oʻahu, Kauaʻi and Hawaiʻi Island this week. You can also read the story online.
