National Doctors' Day is celebrated every March 30 to shine a spotlight on physicians, honoring and recognizing their unwavering commitment, expertise and compassion to the patients and communities they serve.
In recognition of all of our dedicated doctors, five Hawaiʻi Pacific Health physicians appear in a MidWeek cover story. In this special issue, they shed light on their career journeys and the integral milestones they have made not just in their own lives, but in that of the hospitals they work at, the communities they live in and the patients they care for.
Pictured in their white coats above, from left to right, are:
- Dr. Jonathan Paladino, Hawaiʻi Health Partners critical care medicine physician based at Straub Benioff Medical Center and Pali Momi Medical Center.
- Dr. Andrew Baldwin, Hawaii Pacific Health Medical Group cardiothoracic surgeon based at Straub Benioff Medical Center.
- Dr. John Kao, Hawaiʻi Pacific Health Medical Group interventional cardiologist based at Pali Momi Medical Center.
- Dr. Kandi George, Hawaiʻi Pacific Health Medical Group neonatologist based at Kapiʻolani Medical Center for Women & Children.
- Dr. Eugene Lao, Hawaii Pacific Health Medical Group family medicine physician based at Wilcox Medical Center and Kauai Medical Clinic.
These individuals represent the excellence and heart that define the hundreds of doctors who make up the medical staff at Hawaiʻi Pacific Health's medical centers and facilities.
Whether it's bringing new life into the world by delivering babies or saving the life of someone rushed to an emergency department, HPH doctors are always ready to help – along with their teams of nurses, staff and administration. Their work transforms lives, and their commitment to advancing health care strengthens the well-being of our entire state.
The MidWeek issue is available on Oʻahu, Kauaʻi and Hawaiʻi Island this week. You can also read the story online.
