Straub Benioff Medical Center has been named one of the top hospitals in the nation for patient experience by NRC Health, a leading health care experience management firm.
Out of 168 eligible medium-sized hospitals in the U.S., Straub Benioff was one of only three to receive the NRC Health Excellence in Patient Experience Award for 2025. The Honolulu medical center was also the first and only hospital in Hawaii to receive the award.
“Everyone at Straub Benioff Medical Center cares deeply about each and every patient,” said Terence Young, Straub Benioff CEO. “We are honored to be recognized with this award, which is a reflection of our team and the passion they bring to work every single day.”
Straub Benioff was founded as The Clinic in 1921 by Dr. George F. Straub, a surgeon who envisioned a hospital that always put patients first and where the entire family could be treated under one roof.
“Straub Benioff recently marked 105 years of caring for our patients and carrying out Dr. Straub’s vision, and we’re only getting started,” said Travis Clegg, Straub Benioff chief operating officer. “As we continue the historic redevelopment of our medical center to create a health care campus of the future, our patients will continue to be at the core of everything we do.”
NRC Health’s Excellence in Patient Experience awardees were selected using a methodology that evaluated patients’ feedback on whether they were likely to recommend a hospital based on their experience from April 1, 2024, to March 31, 2025.
“This achievement highlights the dedication of the Straub Benioff Medical Center team, and we’re proud to celebrate their successes,” said Helen Hrdy, chief operating officer at NRC Health.
