Longtime Leaders Receive Promotions at Hawaii Pacific Health

Mathew Loughlin has been named chief risk officer at Hawaii Pacific Health (HPH).

Mathew Laughlin headshot.The Mililani resident has played an instrumental part at Pali Momi Medical Center and HPH for more than 20 years. Most recently, he served as the Aiea medical center’s vice president of hospital operations.

Loughlin first joined HPH in 2001 as a graduate nurse in the Pali Momi Emergency Department (ED). He then served as an ED charge nurse, hospital house supervisor and manager of patient flow before moving into risk management for the HPH system in 2016. There, Loughlin utilized his clinical expertise communications skills to lead the Pali Momi team through patient relations encounters.

He holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in nursing, as well as a master’s degree in business administration with a focus on health care management from Western Governors University. He is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and the American Society for Health Care Risk Management.

Nhelda Aguda has been promoted to Pali Momi’s vice president of hospital operations.

Nhelda Aguda headshot.Aguda brings 25 years of nursing experience and 15 years in progressive leadership roles to her new position. She last served as Pali Momi’s director of Patient Care Services, where she oversaw multiple clinical departments and advanced continuous improvement efforts.

Beyond her operational leadership, Aguda is deeply committed to workforce development and community partnership. She serves as Advisory Board Chair and Work‑Based Learning mentor for Waipahu High School's Academy of Health & Sciences, helping shape curriculum, support experiential learning and prepare students for health care careers.

Aguda holds a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, as well as a master’s degree in business administration with a focus on health care management from Western Governors University.
