As of 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, Hurricane Lowell remains a Category 4 storm with sustained winds near 145 mph. Current forecasts indicate the storm will turn north Saturday evening and make its closest approach to the state Monday night.

While confidence has increased in forecast models, officials are urging residents to be prepared for changes through the Labor Day holiday.

For Oʻahu, potential impacts include rain beginning Sunday and continuing into the week, and high surf and dangerous coastal conditions.

For Kauaʻi County, wind forecasts suggest gusts up to 75 mph are possible Monday and Tuesday, along with heavy rainfall and potential flash floods, as well as dangerous surf and coastal conditions.

HPH's Emergency Management team continues to actively monitor forecasts and has completed operational checklists, working with facility and operational leaders to ensure our medical centers and clinics are prepared for potential impacts.

All Hawaiʻi Pacific Health medical centers and clinics remain open and are providing care for patients.

Employees should report to work for their scheduled shifts unless directed otherwise.
