Weather Update: Nolo Now a Hurricane Traveling South of Hawai‘i

Hawaiʻi Pacific Health is closely monitoring Nolo, which is now a Category 2 hurricane and expected to continue intensifying as it travels south of the Hawaiian Islands.
Current forecasts indicate the storm's center will remain south of Hawaiʻi, but significant weather impacts are still expected, particularly for Hawaiʻi Island. Heavy rain, flash flooding, mudslides, strong winds, and dangerous surf are anticipated through the weekend.
Maui County is expected to experience periods of heavy rainfall, gusty winds, and hazardous ocean conditions through the weekend.
On Oʻahu and Kauaʻi, high surf and wind advisories are in effect, with 1 to 3 inches of rainfall possible through the weekend.
Hawaiʻi Pacific Health medical centers and clinics remain open and are providing care for patients.
Patients, visitors, and employees are encouraged to monitor weather forecasts and remain prepared as conditions may change.

Hurricane season in Hawaiʻi runs from June 1 through Nov. 30.
