FAQS
You’re not the first to ask that question! Our medical director Maria Ver, MD, and other experts on our team answer the most commonly asked questions about the Bariatric Surgery Program at Pali Momi.
Am I a candidate for this program?
Generally speaking, bariatric surgery is recommended for people with a BMI > 40. Those with BMI 30-40 may also qualify depending on insurance and co-morbid conditions.
How long is the process from consultation to surgery?
Typically, the process takes a minimum of 3-6 months. This allows enough time for pre-surgery consultation, dieting, lifestyle coaching, etc.
When can I go back to work?
There are no restrictions after 3 weeks. Some patients who do not have laborious jobs are able to go back to work one week after surgery.
Is there an age limit?
No. Obesity affects young and old alike. Our team evaluates each patient on a case-by-case basis to determine which treatment option will best help them to achieve a lifetime of good health, regardless of age.
What insurances do you accept?
Please contact our office and we will be happy to answer your insurance questions. Call 951 LOSS (5677) or toll-free1-877-947-LOSS (5677).
What type of bariatric surgery does your program provide?
The two main types of bariatric surgery are RNY Gastric Bypass and Sleeve Gastrectomy. Our team is ready to walk you through the differences and to help you determine which may be appropriate for you.
