Kapi'olani Medical Center at Pali Momi is Growing with Leeward Oahu

April 2004

New Expanded Emergency Room and More

To keep pace with the continuing growth of the Leeward community it serves, Kapi'olani Medical Center at Pali Momi has tripled the size of its emergency room (ER) and doubled the number of treatment rooms. The six-month renovation was completed in April 2004.

Kapi'olani's original ER was designed to accommodate 16,000 patients a year. With the expansion, it now has the capacity to provide a higher level of care for 36,000 patients a year. The expanded ER has 12 treatment rooms, three fast-track rooms, two triage rooms, two obstetrics rooms, two isolation rooms. There is also a dedicated imaging facility with X-ray and ultrasound designed to put results into physicians' hands as quickly as possible. ER patients and their families are more comfortable in the larger waiting room and there are televisions in every treatment room.

Kapi'olani Medical Center at Pali Momi has expanded its emergency room in response to the community's needs. We have seen tremendous growth as families move into new communities in the area. We also recognized the need for emergency medical care for the growing number of seniors living in Aiea and Pearl City.

Kapi'olani strives to provide a high level of service for Leeward families and it's a commitment we take seriously. We will continue to listen and respond to the community's needs and provide services within the community where it's convenient.
