Making Miracles Happen for Hawaii’s Keiki
Kapiolani has been Hawaii's only Children's Miracle Network hospital since 1984. More than $9 million have been raised during this time to support injured and critically-ill children at Kapiolani. 100% of the money raised in Hawaii has stayed here to help our keiki, regardless of their family’s ability to pay.
Children's Miracle Network Hospitals - the international alliance of premier hospitals for children - is a nonprofit organization dedicated to saving and improving the lives of children by raising funds for children’s hospitals across North America. Each year, the 170 Children's Miracle Network hospitals provide medical care, life-saving research and preventive education to help over 17 million children overcome diseases and injuries of every kind.
How is this done? By people – just like you – who generously donate funds to benefit the keiki at Kapiolani, either through direct individual gifts or corporate campaigns. Corporations such as Walmart, Sam’s Club, Costco Wholesale, Ace Hardware, Marriott Hawaii, Panda Restaurants, Credit Union for Kids, Dairy Queen and Foresters all participate in fundraising campaigns marked with the signature Miracle Balloon icon throughout the year.
Children’s Miracle Network Programs
Each year, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals names a Champion ambassador from each state, Washington, D.C. and Puerto Rico. The Champions program honors remarkable children who have triumphed despite severe medical challenges. Hawaii’s 2016 Children’s Miracle Network Champion, Julie Kobayashi, helps to raise awareness about the need to support Kapiolani. Here's her story of courage and determination.
