COURSE INFORMATION:
This conference is intended for PICU nurses.


OBJECTIVES:
1. Discuss the nursing care involved in the transfusion of
blood products.
2. Identify the different types of thalassemia and
hereditary spherocytosis.
3. Describe treatment options for marrow failure.
4. Discuss the key components of nursing assessment in
caring for children with sickle cell disease.
5. Identify the signs and symptoms of hemolytic anemia and
pathophysiology.
6. Discuss both acquired and inherited disorders of
hemostasis.
7. List three components in the treatment of thrombosis.
8. Discuss the phagocytic system and Hereditary
Lymphohistiocytosis (HLH).
