TARGET AUDIENCE:
This conference is intended for physicians, nurses, pharmacists and other healthcare professionals. It is open to all.


OBJECTIVES:
1. Apply recommendations for appropriate blood volume collection for blood cultures.
2. Consider the importance of timing when interpreting CBC results.
3. Consider the evidence for and against using various serum markers for inflammation to predict neonatal sepsis.
4. Integrate multiple approaches to early-onset sepsis diagnostic workup and management in neonates >=35 weeks gestational age along with varied guidelines for antibiotic treatment duration for “rule out sepsis” (24 and 36 hours).
