Conference Information:
This offering will address the gaps in knowledge of changes in practice and evidence-based case of Sexual Assault (SA) patients.


OBJECTIVES:
1. Describe how to collect and package forensic evidence samples.
2. Recognize how to obtain a medical forensic history from the pediatric and adult/adolescent patient.
3. Describe how to properly document the patient's history and findings on the medical-legal report.
4. Describe the care of the patient presenting with strangulation.
5. List normal variants of the medical forensic exam that can be confused with trauma or injury.
6. Recognize when sexually transmitted diseases are indicators of abuse.
7. Identify in which patients HIV prophylaxis is indicated.
8. Describe how to identify pediatric victims of human trafficking.
9. Describe the various interventions needed in sexual assault patients.
