Pali Momi Bariatric Support Group

All the Support You Need, and Fun Too!

2nd Wednesday of the month
6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Pali Momi Medical Center
Diamond Head Conference Room

The meal at the cooking demonstration was tasty, healthy and quickly put together, just what you would expect from a trained chef. The chef also has a day job as a physician who specializes in bariatric medicine. He is Dr. Stephen Bradley, whose popular cooking demonstration is but one of several ingredients making up the Support Group for Pali Momi’s Bariatric Surgery Program. According to one of the participants at the cooking demonstration, “I’d like to ask the doctor to marry me. I was surprised at how fast he put it all together. I can see how it would only take about 15 to 20 minutes for me to make that meal from when I get home from work, and it was so tasty.”

The Support Group meets at 6:30 p.m. on the second Wednesday of the month at Pali Momi. The recent cooking demo was pretty typical of the outside-the-box thinking that goes into keeping up the enthusiasm of its members. Set up for surgery patients and for those considering surgery, the group brings in a different specialist monthly. Recent themes have included how to get fit without a gym membership, how to Zumba, mental wellness and meditation, and plastic surgery.

Through the group, members make connections and then help each other adopt lifestyle changes that are essential for a successful surgery outcome.
