Family Planning

Kapi'olani Medical Center for Women & Children offers family planning services through our Women's Outpatient Clinic. In addition to treatment, management and counseling for pregnancy, we provide education and support to help women prevent unplanned pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases.

Family planning services include:

  • Annual physical exams
  • Pap smears
  • Testing for sexually transmitted diseases (STD's)
  • Birth control methods
    • Oral contraception
    • Emergency contraception
    • Barrier methods are provided in the form of diaphragm and spermidical gel, foam and condoms, and vaginal contraceptive film
    • Sterilization services are available for females only
    • Norplant removal
    • IUD insertion and removal
    • Injectable contraception
    • Contraceptive skin patch

Especially for Teens: In addition to family planning services, the Kapi'olani Teen Clinic provides treatment, management and counseling for pregnant teens (aged 18 and under) on Wednesday afternoons.
