Bone and Joint Center at Kauai Medical Center
Overview
The Orthopedic Team at the Bone and Joint Center has expanded to provide comprehensive care of the musculoskeletal system. Our staff includes includes orthopedic surgeons who specialize in sports medicine, joint replacement, hand and upper extremity and fracture care as well as a podiatrist (foot specialist) and a physiatrist (rehab doctor). Physicians work closely with the nursing staff, physical therapists and occupational therapists to successfully diagnose and treat conditions as a team in the hospital and in the outpatient clinic.
Our staff has special expertise in sports medicine and the care and treatment of athletic injuries. From the management of complex joint, muscle and ligament disorders to sprains and strains, our sports medicine team understands the importance of training, conditioning, surgical and nonsurgical treatments.

If you are suffering from arthritis pain that is preventing you from doing the things you need to do, we can discuss your treatment options from physical therapy to injections to surgery. We use computer navigation to ensure optimum placement of knee replacement components and tailor the type of hip replacement used to your size, age and activity level. If your primary care doctor has described your arthritis as moderate or severe, ask for a referral to a Bone and Joint Center orthopedist.

Whether you work construction, housekeeping or type, you need your hands to work as hard as you do. Our specialists can treat your fractures, carpal tunnel syndrome, trigger fingers, hand and wrist injuries or arthritis and get you back to work.

Foot pain, deformities or ulcers keeping you off your feet? Our podiatrist can help analyze your footwear, how you walk and the shape of your foot to decide if orthotics, casting, exercises, injections or surgery can help relieve your pain.

Wilcox Health Bone and Joint Center also offers bone densitometry - a useful predictor of bone mass and bone density that can indirectly predict fracture risk. Our sophisticated equipment can help you discover if you are at risk for fractures and assist your physician in your care plan.

Bone Densitometry is offered Monday through Friday. Appointments are made by calling the Imaging Department at 245-1033 after your primary care physician has referred you for the exam. For more information about bone densitometry, call our staff for educational materials at 245-1030.
