Rehabilitation Services

In 2002, Pali Momi opened a new Outpatient Rehabilitation Center on the sixth floor of the Medical Office Building. The new center is much larger, with more than 1,600 square feet, and was specifically designed to provide rehabilitation services with specialized treatment rooms, the latest therapy equipment, and a patient waiting area.

Audiology Program

Our highly trained audiologists (professionals specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of hearing disorders) work with each patient to identify the problem and design a solution that meets his or her needs. Services include:

  • Assessment and diagnosis of non-medical hearing problems
  • Hearing testing for adults and children
  • Hearing aid fitting
  • Aural rehabilitation (assistance for patients and their families in adjusting to and coping with hearing loss)
  • Hearing loss prevention program
  • Vestibulometry (measurement of balance and dizziness)

Vestibular Rehabilitation

If you suffer from dizziness and vertigo, there is relief.

Until recently, many patients suffering from dizziness and vertigo were left to perform therapeutic exercises at home on their own. Now, Kapi'olani provides a structured regimen individually designed for each patient and guided by our rehabilitation therapists.

Kapi'olani also offers electronystagmographic (ENG) testing of the eyes, which is helpful in diagnosing vestibular problems.

Lymphedema Rehabilitation

Lymphedema is a common but often misunderstood condition that affects the quality of life of many cancer survivors. It is caused when protein-rich lymphatic fluid accumulates in tissues, engorging and enlarging them and often causing visible swelling, tenderness and pain.

Kapi'olani Medical Center at Pali Momi offers Hawaii's first comprehensive lymphedema rehabilitation program. Our goal is to provide you with the knowledge and skills to manage lymphatic swelling on your own.

Other rehabilitation services

Kapi'olani Medical Center at Pali Momi also provides evaluation and therapy for:

  • Speech and language problems.
  • Swallowing disorders, including modified barium swallowing study.
  • Physical Therapy.
