Preventative Steps
Forty-percent of deaths in Hawaii are linked to cardiovascular disease. To address this staggering statistic, The Heart Center offers special classes, programs and lifestyle counseling as preventative measures toward having a healthy heart.
Cholesterol
Although the body requires some cholesterol, too much can be detrimental. Age, gender and family history can increase the risk of heart disease and high cholesterol. A healthy diet, weight control and exercise can help prevent being at high risk.
Nutrition
A well-balanced diet, including lots of fruits and vegetables, helps nourish the body and lowers the risk for all types of ailments and diseases. Maintaining good dietary balance can reduce the risk of heart disease, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and obesity.
